Philipp Schnell is an affiliated researcher at the Swiss Forum for Migration and Population Studies (SFM). He obtained his PhD at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands (2012).
He has been a visiting scholar at the Institut National D’ Études Démographiques in Paris and at the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies (University of Amsterdam). His primary research focuses on aspects of social mobility by children of immigrants in Europe. His other research interests include neighborhoods, urban inequality and (super-) diversity in comparative perspective. Within the Swiss pathways to success project, Philipp is responsible for the quantitative analysis of educational careers and divergent pathways of Turkish and former Yugoslavian descendants into the Swiss labour market.
