Andreas Pott is Professor of Social Geography at the University of Osnabrück and since 2009 director of the IMIS.
After having studied Geography, Mathematics and Philosophy in Bonn and London, he received his PhD at the IMIS with a thesis on the role of ethnicity and space in successful educational careers of the Turkish second generation. From 2000 to 2007 he worked as a researcher at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe Universität Franfurt am Main. His main research interests are elite formation of immigrants’ descendants, geography of migration, cultural geographies of the city as well as space and social theory.
