Emmanuelle Santelli holds a degree in sociology and a PhD from the University of Lyon (France). Her PhD thesis was on trajectories of the descendants of North African migrants (1997).
She has been a research scholar at France’s National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) since 2000 at the Centre Max Weber (research unit in Lyon) and, since 2005, an associate research scholar at the National Institute of Demographic Studies (INED) in Paris. Her research interests are: the second generation of Maghrebi migrants, upward mobility, transnationalism, conjugal and familial dynamics. She has published three books : La mobilité sociale dans l’immigration, PUM, Toulouse, 2001; Grandir en banlieue, CIEMI, Paris, 2007; Couples d’ici, parents d’ailleurs, PUF, Paris, 2012, with Beate Collet.
